Hopworks is not far from my house, which makes it easy to spend hour after hour after hour there. Their seasonal beers are always good, but their Abominable winter ale is one of the best I’ve had. While on my two week vacation/attempt-to-regain-sanity break from work I found myself stopping by there with an almost alarming frequency to indulge in happy hour pints of Abomb. Kabluey and I even rang in the new year at HUB, though we haven’t been back since that night, as we’re not sure the staff was entirely thrilled with the way we required everyone in the bar area to get up and dance as the clock struck twelve. (P.S. they’re not set up for music requests, no matter how emphatically you express your love of 80’s tunes.)
This beer is strong (but not dangerously so) and it’s perfectly hopped. Best of all, it’s not too sweet, which is a common complaint I have with many winter beers. Get it now, while you still can.
